Through breathwork we allow ourselves to feel what our body is still holding in relation to our past. To let go and reconnect to the purest version of you. What is Spiritus breathwork?
Spiritus breathwork is a way of connected breathwork that combines both shamanism and somatic healing, where somatic healing stands for healing the body. It is an integrated form of connected breathing, meaning you don’t pause between the inhale and exhale. During the breathing we combine music and energy work to help stimulate your nervous system. As we connect the subconscious brain with the conscious brain we allow the nervous system to release unfinished processes from the past. That way previous trauma no longer affects our forward moving decision making, allowing us to live a more present and peaceful life.
Why is healing so important?
Despite the fact that we cannot change the past, we should realise that certain unprocessed aspects might still affect our decision making. Previous emotions which you experienced during a painful experience can be stuck in your body, waiting to be felt and then let go.
In psychology, trauma is not the actual event that happened. Rather it is our emotional response to the situation that happened. It is like an anker that is placed in our brain. As our brain is hardwired to protect us, when we don’t process those emotions, our nervous system will fire a similar response when triggered. Even though, the current situation is not even closely related or as severe as to what occurred in the past.
What is interesting is that the protection of the brain goes so far, that it will prevent us from experiencing our own truth. As a result, we run away from our own truth and deepest beliefs. Running towards new relationships, drugs, work or excessive sex. Which then leads to feelings of insecurity, panic attacks, lack of energy or even depression. Running away from our emotions only creates more unease and if we wait long enough it transforms into disease.
To make sure that we are no longer triggered by previous emotions and patterns in new situations we must feel the old stuck energy of emotions and release it. That means facing the fear of the emotion and take it head-on. So that we can experience life freely and openly without being affected by our past!
How does it work?
During the awareness stage we dive into what’s been keeping you busy. Who are you, what are you working on and what makes you happy?
This is where we identify things that you’re currently struggling with and define a solid intention before diving into the breathwork. By defining a strong intention, we allow our mind and body to prepare for what we want to discover, thereby deepening our experience.
This is the actual work. You’ll be guided through a session where both nasal and open mouth breathing can be applied. Both have a similar level of depth, just the time break through the threshold is different.
By applying the connected conscious breathing, you open the connection between the conscious and the subconscious. As you breathe, you decrease the level of CO2 in your blood. The direct result of an incapability of the body to disperse the amount of oxygen (O2) that you’re breathing in. The result is decreased activity in the pre-frontal cortex and increased activity in the limbic brain. This is how you start processing and releasing stored emotions in your nervous system.
Breathwork can be done both online as in a physical space! That way you don’t necessarily need to travel to receive the guidance!
We will guide you and make sure you’ll stay within your window of tolerance. Again there is nothing to worry about, you’ll only be presented with what your body is capable of handling.
So you’re doing the work and are actually processing stored emotions and old belief systems. As we release the stored energy we have to allow the body to physically recover from this proces. Make sure that you allow yourself time for this! The integration will be the only way for you to actually change and not keep recycling the same process.
Integration means actioning the things that you’ve discovered during the breathing. To create an overview we always advise to journal and go into nature without distraction. Next, is you actually taking the steps towards changing your physical reality. That can mean expressing the things that have hurt you in the past and make up with the person. Or change the place you work, end that relationship or even just make more time for your favourite hobby. Just make sure that you action that what needs to be said & done!

What to expect?
During your session
It makes perfect sense that after reading this page it is still a bit unclear what to expect! Below we’ve summarised most of the things that can come up during a session:
- Emotional release: During breathwork we welcome all stored emotions. This can be anything: something that came up yesterday or even occurred in our early childhood. What is important to know is that the release of the emotion only lasts for 90 seconds. As we allow the emotion to move through we release and allow ourselves to live more freely.
- Tetany: This occurs as a result of decreased CO2 levels in your blood and usually manifests as cramping hands and jaws. Nothing to be fearful for however it can be an unpleasant feeling.
- Temperature shifts: As the emotional energy moves through us, we can experience shifts in bodily temperature. Dependent on where you are in your journey this can either be heat waves (that includes you might sweat) or cold chills. We welcome both and will make sure that we have everything near us to make you feel comfortable throughout the journey!
- Tremoring: This is what we refer to when our body somatically unwinds. Believe it or not but we as humans are awfully close to mammals. As such we have similar mechanisms in our body to release stress. When we start shaking it is the process of our muscles releasing the stored energy.

Doing the work is always a blessing, but the biggest blessing comes when we start reaping the rewards! After finishing your breathwork journey you can experience the following:
- Centered in your body: Equipped to experience all emotions whilst they flow through without resistance.
- Greater sense of presence: After the breathwork journey you’re capable of observing what is, without being consumed by it. As a result you become more present in your day-to-day activities.
- Energized and confident: No longer held back by old belief systems you can live your life from a place of love and openness. This allows you to grow and develop from a place of confidence!

Important information before your booking
What you need to know:
- Sessions are c. 90 minutes and are held online through Zoom.
- Upon request we offer sessions on location. We do charge extra for such requests dependent on distance and time travelled.
- Sessions are available on Monday to Friday. Upon request we work in weekends.
- Wear comfortable clothing you can easily move and relax in!
- Make sure you allocate time after the session for integration and reflection.
Contra-indications towards sessions..

- Unmedicated high/low blood pressure
- Osteoporosis
- Aneurysms

- Blood thinning or anti-clot medication

- Strong anti-depressants, anti-anxiety or mind altering medication

Cancellation/Rescheduling policy..
- 24 hours notice is requested for any cancellation or rescheduling.
- Rescheduling your session before 24 hours of the start time leads to no applied fee.
- Rescheduling within 24 hours of the start time – 20% fee of session payment (i.e. €200,- leads to a fee of €40,-).
- Cancelation within 24 hours of the start time – 100% session payment.
- Cancel within 72 hours of the start time – 50% session payment.
- All refunds will be made manually via your payment method once you reschedule or cancel online.
- We reserve the right to cancel/reschedule the session at any time with due reason. In the event of us cancelling the session a 100% refund will be made via your payment method.
