This Criollo hybrid bean is known for its low bitterness or acidity, however still rich in deep and intense chocolate flavours, with hints of nuttiness. Our origin

Our cacao is harvested by a group of indigenous Asháninka farmers in Junin, Peru. Our farms are located on the border of the Amazon tropical rainforest in the Satipo region. The perfect growing conditions for our Criollo caca are found there as the climate entails tropical weather combined with a wide variety of other fauna, that is able to provide shadows for our beloved cacao tree. Our farmers treat our cacao with great care and hence use a fully organic farming method. That means that our cacao is 100% free of pesticides.

Ethically sourced

We are super proud to share with you how we source our cacao! Together with our suppliers, we have a direct connection to the farming corporation in Peru. That means we strip out all middle parties and ensure the farmers receive a fair price for the high quality cacao that they are delivering us. As a result of this direct trade, we do not use the (paid) label fair trade, but ensure the fair pricing throughout the supply chain ourselves.
